Getting fired because of misconduct is a great risk for one’s future.
By admin | February 12, 2012
When the government introduced the issue of ex-employees being able to apply for unemployment benefits as soon as they lost their jobs, there was great relief among many employees because they were sure that they were going to be able to meet their needs once they lost their jobs before they got another job. However, the reason one lost their jobs was a great determinant as to whether one was going to be issued with the benefits or not. Of all the reasons that could disqualify an applicant from receiving unemployment benefits gross misconduct was one of them, and it was the leading reason for one not to qualify to receive these benefits. Over the years, I have noticed so many people struggling to feed their families as a result of losing their jobs because of gross misconduct and I cannot help myself going over my companies policies so as to ensure that I am trending on safer grounds. Losing your job for other reasons like lay offs in your company can enable you to benefit from the government’s unemployment benefits as you look for another job. Therefore, it is clear that for one to be able to receive unemployment benefits when fired, a good reason for getting fired will be required by the agency that will be handling your application. This together with other requirements that vary from one state to the other, will determine your eligibility to receive these benefits. Its necessary for an employee to be aware of his/her company’s policies, do’s and dont’s in order to be careful not to get fired because of such a reason as misconduct, which could even not get you another job in future.
